Modern industrial workshops are generally in the form of steel structure, and the ventilation and daylighting of steel structure workshops is one of the indispensable factors considered in the construction of the factory. The current mainstream approach is to install metal building ridge vents to achieve natural ventilation and lighting. Ridge ventilator do not have the characteristics of power consumption and it is easy to maintain. So in order to achieve better ventilation and lighting effects in steel structure workshops, what kind of smoke vent skylights should be designed and installed. Mcwell will introduce you details of structure and characteristics of steel roof ridge vent. Ridge ventilator is divided into vertical and horizontal layouts, and their composition is mainly composed of skylight frames, skylight roofs, skylight end walls, skylight side panels and skylight sashes:
(1) Skylight frame
The skylight frame directly bears all the loads on the skylight roof. There are two types of skylight frames: reinforced concrete skylight frames and steel skylight frames. The span of the skylight frame is 1/2 to 1/3 of the span of the workshop, and the height is 0.3 to 0.5 times the span of the skylight frame.
(2) Skylight fan
Steel skylight sashes are widely used in ridge ventilator, and materials such as wood and plastic are also used. There are two ways to open the skylight: top-hung and middle-hung. In order to facilitate opening, a top-hung window should be used. The top-hung steel skylight sash consists of several units such as an opening fan and a fixed fan. It can be arranged as a full-length window sash and a sectional window sash.
(3) Skylight side panels
In order to prevent rainwater from splashing into the workshop and to prevent snow from blocking the skylight sash, a skylight side panel is installed at the lower part of the skylight sash. The side panels of the smoke vent rooflight are mostly made of reinforced concrete trough-shaped panels or asbestos-cement corrugated light-weight small panels, and their structure is shown in the figure:
(4) Skylight roof and cornice
The structure of the steel roof ridge vent is the same as that of the factory roof. Due to the small width and height of skylights, roof panels with eaves are mostly used for eaves of skylights, and the length of the eaves is 300-500mm.
(5) End wall of skylight
The gables at both ends of the skylight are called skylight end walls. The end walls of skylights are commonly prefabricated reinforced concrete end walls and asbestos tile end walls. The precast reinforced concrete end wall can be spliced with 2 to 3 plates according to its span.
